Two Eureka men were arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of felony vandalism after they were caught damaging a pickup truck and a business by police.

At 2 a.m. Friday, two people caused damage to a newer pickup truck and Let It Grow, a hydroponic and homebrewing supply store on the corner of 9th and I Streets in Arcata, the APD said.

They reportedly caused more than $1,000 in damage to the pickup truck and scraped the painted window advertisements, Sgt. Dave Brown said. A rock was used to smash a mirror and headlight on the vehicle, he said.

Dane Claire, 22, and Joshua Richter, 26, were arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and booked into the Humboldt County jail. No reason for their causing the damage has been identified, the APD said.

Any links between these individuals and other recent cases of vandalism in Arcata aren’t known yet, the APD said.
