Lloyd C. Barker

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lloyd C. Barker passed away peacefully on May 8, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Lloyd was a native of Oregon, residing in McKinleyville with his wife of 64 years (six days short of 65 years), Marianne Barker. The first years of their marriage were spent with Lloyd serving in the United States Army in which he was deployed to Europe during WWII. After serving his country, Lloyd returned to the United States and spent many years working in the woods as a logger. After a serious injury in the woods and not knowing if he would ever be able to work again Lloyd defied the odds and found himself employed by Isaacson Motors as a vehicle mechanic in Arcata. Lloyd enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his spouse Marianne Barker; sons, Dennis Barker, Dean Barker; daughters, Barbara MacDonald and Pat Cox.

Lloyd had 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Bill, Cheryl, Tracie, Deanna, Butch, Gary, Tamara, Kale and Jennifer. Lloyd also had 13 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by: Richard Barker (son), Teresa Barker (daughter) and his four sisters and three brothers.

A Military Honor graveside service will be held at Ocean View Cemetery on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 1 p.m.
A short family visitation will be held before the service at 11 a.m. at Pierce Mortuary, 707 H Street, Eureka, Calif..
