Seventeen people were arrested, drugs and money were seized and a stolen vehicle was recovered Wednesday when the Eureka Police Department, in conjunction with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, targeted the downtown and West side of Eureka.
A special enforcement day was conducted in response to complaints ranging from drug dealing, drug use, vandalism, prostitution and other public offenses, the EPD said in a statement. Law enforcement personnel worked from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and covered about two-thirds of the city, EPD Sgt. Patrick O’Neill said.
The enforcement teams conducted 45 traffic enforcement stops (39 on vehicles and six on bicycles), 11 suspicious vehicle investigations and 23 field interviews, the EPD said. About five grams of suspected heroin, five grams of suspected methamphetamine, two grams of suspected cocaine and $1,001 were seized. Several vehicles were towed and numerous citations were issued, the EPD said.
A stolen vehicle was also reportedly recovered.

Why are these people even gravitating to Eureka? I have discussed the crime issue with several people in the know. They say the poor on poor crime is horrible. How did Eureka ever get to this state of being?

Poor economy and ease to get public assistance some say is the reason for the poor gravitating to Eureka. Others might say it is because of the mild weather and lack of control.
Poor on poor crimes will get worse if ou economy does not change; and it will be noticed when there is not distinction about who the crime is against.
