Two people arrested by the Trinidad Police Department suspected of committing sodomy and a hate crime pleaded not guilty to four charges against each of them on Wednesday.
The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office filed a complaint on both men charging them for suspicion of kidnapping to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon and both sodomy and sodomy in concert with another person.
TPD arrested Collin Gregory Roczey, 18, and Kevin Scott Walker, 35, both transients, Saturday afternoon after receiving calls that two subjects were assaulting a Hispanic person — it’s not known if the person was male or female — at Trinidad Beach.
During the alleged attack, both subjects allegedly yelled racial slurs as they beat on the person, according to a TPD news release from Monday.
Roczey and Walker have a bail hearing set for today. A preliminary hearing is set for May 28.
Hard to believe this happened with witnesses not doing anything but calling it in.
