Robert Clyde Thompson passed away May 13, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, Calif., at the age of 60.
A Yurok Tribal member, Robert was a loving husband who spoiled his wife rotten for 31 years. He was the best dad and grandpa who was always there for every sporting event the kids and grandchildren were involved in. He will be sorely missed by all his family.
Robert is survived by his wife Valeria Thompson; sons Robert Calvin Thompson of Eureka, Rick Moorehead III of Alabama and daughters Effie May Thompson (Dennie) and Tallie Thomson (Rob) of McKinleyville, Calif., and brother John Thompson.
Robert also leaves behind grandchildren Justice Salmans, Theron and Zoe Thomson, Cheyenne Sanderson, Ka-Nuk Jones, Ryan Jr. and Mahleena Scott, and Alex Schultheis. He also leaves nieces and nephews Londa and Tane-Pa-Wik, Tracie, Jenben, Bubbs, Ninny, Baby-D, Jeff, Neil, Johnny, Reggie and Michael.
Robert was preceded in death by parents Clyde Warren and Alice May Thompson, son Johnathan Thompson and brother William Thompson.
There will be a graveside service on May 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Howonquet Cemetery in Smith River, Calif.
There will be a gathering immediately following at the Howonquet Community Center.
Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to Children Services of California.
Arrangements are under the care of Pierce Mortuary, 707 H Street, Eureka, Calif.
