Eletha Nelson Taus went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 8, 2008. Eletha was born to William and Eva Moore on Feb. 3, 1913, in Six Prong, Ore. She graduated from Philomath High School, class of 1929, as valedictorian. She then attended Southern Oregon Normal and University of Oregon, where she received an accounting certificate.
From the mid 1950s until mid 170s she worked at the Josephine County of Oregon Sheriff’s Office in the tax office division. She worked for five years at the Josephine County Library. Then until 1985m she worked with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department for Emergency Services.
In 1999 she moved to Ferndale, Calif. The last two years she resided at Silvercrest Care Home in Eureka, Calif.
She is a member of the Church of Christ. She wrote poetry and had many published. She is survived by her son Tracy Nelson and wife Lois of Ferndale; son Frank Taus and wife Ann of Grants Pass, Ore.; daughter-in-law C. Lenora Nelson of Hopkinsville, Ky.; sisters Waunetta Cook of Bandon, Ore., Lilah Jarco of Salem, Ore., Rozella Gatewood of North Bend, Ore.; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her two husbands Jack Nelson and Anton Taus; two sons Lloyd Nelson and Dell Nelson; one grandchild; one great grandchild.
Her funeral service and internment were in Grants Pass, Ore., on July 11. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ, 1610 I St., Eureka, CA, with Dr. Billy Lawrence officiating, Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m.
