Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Humboldt Community Breast Health Project, I thank everyone who contributed to the success of our benefit presentation, Breast Cancer 2008 and Beyond, at the Van Duzer Theatre on June 19.
A large audience enjoyed an educational and, yes, entertaining presentation about the newest research into screening for breast cancer, and the possibility of the eradication of breast cancer. We are deeply grateful to Drs. Ellen Mahoney and Susan Love for the gift of their time and expertise.
Many generous sponsors enabled us to provide tickets free of cost to women who could not otherwise have attended. Thank you to Green’s Fortuna Pharmacy, Lima’s Professional Pharmacies, Hospice of Humboldt, Mad River Community Hospital, Mad River Community Hospital Volunteers Inc., See’s Community Fund, Joan Davies, MD, Gary Garcia, MD, Michael Harmon, MD, Leland House, MD, and D. K. Stokes, MD.
Our media supporters, Bicoastal Media, the Eureka Reporter, KHSU, KIEM News Channel 3, Lost Coast Communications, and the Times-Standard, were crucial in getting the word out about the event. Thank you.
We are very grateful to Plaza Design and Sun Valley Farms for providing the wonderful stage setting.
To all who provided raffle prizes, food and the most generous donation of all, their time and energy, we thank you.
Lastly, to the great community of Humboldt County, thank you for coming. Your support has provided funds to help us keep our services free of charge for our clients. This is a great place to live.
