Big Red-Ancient Redwoods Hike

Sanctuary Forest will hold the Big Red-Ancient Redwoods Hike on Saturday, September 6. Sanctuary Forest board member Stuart Moskowitz and hike program co-director Cheryl Lisin will lead the rigorous 5-6 hour hike. Participants will hike from the Mattole River to the ridge top, where they will have lunch, and back to the Mattole for a total of 4 miles. Grand Opening

The Greater Eureka Chamber of Commerce will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting event for the Lost Coast Brewery Native Plant Garden on Saturday, September 6 at noon. Cruz'N'Eureka

Cruz'N'Eureka will be held Friday Sept. 5 and Saturday Sept. 6. The Participant Ice Breaker and late registration will be held Sept. 5 from 4-8 p.m. at the Humboldt Bay Inn, 232 West Fifth St., Eureka. The Fun Run Poker Run will start at 6 p.m. at the Humboldt Bay Inn, and costs $5 per hand for participants. Activities for Sept. 6 include the car show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Old Town Eureka. The Participants Only Cruz will take place on Second Street from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Sock Hop will be held from 8-11 p.m. at the Eagle House Victorian Inn, located at Second and C streets. Fourth Annual Run and Walk

Dune Restoration

The keynote speaker will be Carl Zichella, the Sierra Club’s western regional staff director.
