Arcata looks to impress at NCS

Arcata boys tennis will send three players to Novato today for the North Coast Section singles and doubles championships and the Tigers are hoping to sustain their momentum from the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference singles and doubles championships.

The Arcata Tigers continued their dominance of the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference on Friday by sweeping the league boys tennis doubles championships in Crescent City.

On Saturday, Arcata’s boys tennis squad continued to exert its will over the rest of the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference, winning four of the six singles championships and advancing to the finals in the two other ones.

Arcata’s Casey Mansfield, who is a four-year varsity tennis player, has not lost a match in the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference the last two seasons and was last year’s conference singles champion.

Six days worth of scheduled matches have been completed so far on the Humboldt-Del Norte Conference boys tennis slate, and right now, the H-DNC standings have Arcata, Del Norte, Eureka and Ferndale in the top half, with North Coast Prep, Fortuna, McKinleyville and St. Bernard’s in the bottom four.
